Abhijeet Mukherjee wrote a short article about a new search engine. He listed the three top search engines, Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft Live Search, and the near impossibility for a new search engine to try to compete with the big three. The best option, one embraced by Addict-o-matic, is to specialize in an undeveloped field. Addict-o-matic is similar to a benefit of RSS feeds, instead of making people visit multiple sites to get the information they want, they can bring information from multiple web 2.0 sites to interested people. This search engine doesn’t search all websites, it searches: blogs, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, etc. I did a search of the term “wall-e,” the new Pixar movie, and I was able to get pictures from Flickr, trailers of the movie from YouTube, blog entries from Bloglines, comments from Twitter, Truveo videos, links to Technorati, just to name a few. I thought it was an interesting new site and worth a few minutes of time to check it out.
